Built on the former site of the Minimes Convent, a pretty island at the heart of the Bois de Vincennes, the Chalet de la Porte Jaune owes its origins to Baron Haussmann. He had it built in 1860 as a meeting place for the imperial Court hunt on the request of the Empress Eugénie. Its name alludes to a similar pavilion in the Bois de Saint-Cloud, the former official residence of the Court and also called Chalet de la Porte Jaune. Nowadays, as a listed Historical Monument and entirely restored under the patronage of Bâtiments de France, the Chalet de la Porte Jaune provides rooms and other modular areas able to hold up to 1,500 people. The chalet lies in an exceptional setting: on the Island of the Minimes, in the Bois de Vincennes, just a few minutes from the centre of Paris.
